Russian Plique de Jour and enamel box.

Description

This fine and rare example of a pre revolutionary Russian Plique de Jour and Enamel was made by the 11th Artel . They were the primary supplier of Plique de Jour to the house of Faberge. The box is 2 3/8″ in diameter and decorated with multicolor enamel with a two green cabochon stones. One stone is mounted on the top of the box with the other on the clasp, these may be emeralds. The Plique de Jour is done on the cover so the light shows through like a stained glass window. The underside of the box is inscribed October 7th, 1915 along with two initials. The interior of the box is gilt. The standard is .84 or .875/1000 silver.
